A heavy blow by a hard enough object, like asphalt, can breach
the Chrome by denting the underlying steel. Where the Chrome
is breached, the underlying steel can rust. The polishing process
is labor intensive, the plating process has high expenses for
disposal, and we still use American labor and environmental
regulations, so it adds considerably to the cost.
