Handlebar Vibration control! Easy on the hands! Heavier design!

New Dragonfly design

Our original Hollow-tube-style weights met with wide acclaim. Everyone seems to love the finish, the elegant lines, the precision of these pieces. Almost all of them are between satisfied and raving about the feel of their bikes with the weights installed. However, among customers with 7/8" handlebars, a handful of people wanted more.

People with drag bars (basically flat bars bent only at the ends to more closely match the wrist) sometimes said the weights didn't cut the vibrations as much as they would have liked. Same for people with clip-ons. This makes sense: These bars, being shorter, are also stiffer. They are both more resistant to vibration, and more resistant to bar-end weights, too.

Some earlier non-American cruisers have 1" handlebars, that are necked down to 7/8" for the controls, so the companies could use their established 7/8" switchgear. These units are especially stiff for their length, and also could use more weight sometimes.

The last group of people who clearly needed more were late-model Suzuki owners, who came looking for weights to fit their bikes. How do I know they wanted more? Because Suzuki really gets the value of having weight at the end of the bars, and they already put them on many models at the factory. If these guys were looking for vibration reduction, I needed to offer a bit more than OEM.

So I went back to the old CAD system, and took on the challenge: How to fit even more weight on the end of the bars without making it look like barbells on the relatively dainty 7/8" bars? Of course, if it was to have an attention-getting contour, it would need to complement the lines of modern motorcycles. So I tried to integrate a few riffs from the Edge design trend of late. Sharper corners dancing with gentle arcs. A lot of contours later, I reached an elegant, graceful profile that held a whole lotta metal inside. A WHOLE POUND! Additionally, the flared-out portion serves to hold your hands on the grips if they start to slip. This allows a little more security on the road, for some. I made the first one as a custom for this guy, and he thought it looked like the wing of a dragonfly. So I call this contour the Dragonfly, and my second family of bar-end weights was born.

Available for 7/8" handlebars in:

  • 303 Stainless Steel. Bare metal look, and it never rusts, no matter how badly you spill. Same stuff the whole way through.
  • Polished Chrome. Mirror finish, big "Bling" factor. The hardest finish to scratch.
  • Gloss Black powdercoat.

Special warnings for bar-end weights:

This product is a resonant frequency reducer, not a vibration dampener. The physics of vibration reduction suggest that under extremely abnormal conditions of bar length, material, and vibration frequency, this product may not work as advertised. If you encounter such a situation, I would love to hear about it. Of course, if I can't help you make it work, you can send the product back for a full refund.

On most bikes this product has a negligible effect on steering, since steering inputs have a great deal lower frequency than engine-induced vibration.

HOWEVER! If your motorcycle tends to experience HEAD SHAKE, this product may make it BETTER, or WORSE. Always ride with great care after this product is installed, and carefully re-explore the handling behavior of your bike. If you detect any kind of shimmy or head-shake that was not there before, correct it before you wipe out! This product may yet be usable, if tire-choice, and the condition of the headset, shocks, and rear swingarm bearings are corrected. If you can't work it out, you can send this product back for a full refund.
