Handlebar Vibration control for your FJR 1300 and other Yamaha 6 mm bolt-on applications! Easy on the hands!

Almost since the beginning, people with Yamaha FJR 1300's have been complaining to me about their handlebars, and begging me to do something about it. Two problems presented themselves. One: Those forged or cast aluminum bars needed to be carefully evaluated with a new weight design, to make sure it would not increase the fatigue of the metal. Also, Yamaha had this unpleasant (for me) habit of sticking features in the ends of their bars, specifically a rubber-and-metal damping assembly for the stock sliders, that I could not expect the user to be able to remove. I needed to make the new weight attach to it, and preferably neutralize the damping aspect of the mounting.

Finally, I had an opportunity to work on the fitment, thanks to a local rider who was motivated to go through the development process with me. I used the new Dragonfly profile, which seemed to go well with the contemporary lines of the FJR. I adjusted the mass to match the needs of the FJR. I then designed the attachment end to tension the rubber damper and hold the weight right against the end of the handlebar. Only under a lot of pressure would the rubber come into play.

Best of all, it is a bolt-on replacement for the factory sliders. It comes with the correct length screws and lockwashers, and the pair can be installed in minutes with an allen wrench.

Special warnings for bar-end weights:

This product is a resonant frequency reducer, not a vibration dampener. The physics of vibration reduction suggest that under extremely abnormal conditions of bar length, material, and vibration frequency, this product may not work as advertised. If you encounter such a situation, I would love to hear about it. Of course, if I can't help you make it work, you can send the product back for a full refund.

On most bikes this product has a negligible effect on steering, since steering inputs have a great deal lower frequency than engine-induced vibration.

HOWEVER! If your motorcycle tends to experience HEAD SHAKE, this product may make it BETTER, or WORSE. Always ride with great care after this product is installed, and carefully re-explore the handling behavior of your bike. If you detect any kind of shimmy or head-shake that was not there before, correct it before you wipe out! This product may yet be usable, if tire-choice, and the condition of the headset, shocks, and rear swingarm bearings are corrected. If you can't work it out, you can send this product back for a full refund.
